Ticket price rise sparks fan fury
WELL it's never easy being a Blackpool fan.
We have had our ups and more than our share of downs, but just when you think being a Pool fan is on the up – especially after the wonderful year we have had, being in the Championship for the first time in 29 years, and staying there playing some fantastic football along the way, and going to some outstanding stadiums as well – along comes Karl Oyston and once again kicks us in the teeth.
We have now gone from having one of the lowest admission charges to one of the highest. We have to find next season an increase ranging from 26 per cent to as much as 36 per cent if you are on the monthly pay plan.
What is our chairman thinking of? He is taking the fans and their loyalty to the cleaners. He is once again showing arrogance and disrespect to the fans of Blackpool Football Club. He seems to have no idea of the world 'real' people live in. Not everyone was born with a silver spoon in their mouth.
Yes, we all knew we were going to get some increase, but this much? It's nearly a £100 increase, and at a time when we are all struggling with the credit crunch, gas and electric going through the roof, petrol up on a daily basis, food bills matching the petrol hike, and so on.
Most other chairman – including those of many Premier sides – have been looking to REDUCE admission charges to help fans and to encourage support. So what does our esteemed chairman do? Screws the Blackpool fans with a 25 per cent increase. Nice one Karl.
To try to justify this increase he says: "With Scunthorpe and Colchester being relegated we are now the lowest supported team in the Championship."
Yes Karl, we know that. It's because you have not developed the stadium. We sit every other week in a two-stand stadium looking out at a car park – or should I say a brand new Travelodge – with a disgraceful golf stand for our visitors and you have the nerve to charge one of the top prices this season for Championship football when all we have is a two-sided Conference ground.
Karl you should hang your head in shame and resign your privileged post this week.
So now it will be cheaper to watch all our local rivals, even to watch Premiership football, than it is at Blackpool – and all these grounds have four sides with much better facilities all round.
Sorry Karl, you have just scored the biggest own goal of your life. You have killed the growing support we were starting to build up. You have failed time and time again to deliver your promises on team-strengthening, ground-building, and your PR is nothing less than a disgrace.
Is this a way of saying we will now not need to build the south stand as we have plenty of room in all parts of the stadium? Or are you, Mr Oyston, going to say the increase is for all these top quality players we are about to sign?
I somehow get the feeling that we will not need any extra seating next season, nor will we be attracting the quality players we will need to survive.
I hope I am wrong but I get the feeling we as fans have been taken for mugs, again, by the Oyston empire. I feel an increase was justified, but not by this amount.
I can see Simon looking at other posts as he will surely be in the Leicester equation once again.
At least there they have a ground to be proud of, a chairman – no matter what his faults are – willing to put money into his club.
We have the Oystons who have not had the ability to find any tenants for a south stand in six years of looking.
Still, I may wake up this week and find we have signed those top class players and the south will ready in 40 weeks.

JUST want to say Karl Oyston has done the dirtiest deed of all to the loyal fans.
A rise of 33 per cent on a matchday ticket is absolutely unbelievable and I just hope the fans vote with their feet.
He's using our the fans' loyalty to rip them off rather than finishing the stadium. I feel sick and gutted. BFC RIP.

SO Karl Oyston, are you trying to price the fans out to justify not building the south Stand?
A 26 per cent increase on the cheapest season tickets; a 37 per cent increase on the price plan over six months – not too mention double the income from the Chamionship.
All this and still no investment. Dick Turpin eat your heart out!
