Seasiders new boy Kabba ready for action

STEVE Kabba will be fully prepared for today's friendly at Wrexham – unlike the games in Latvia.
The Seasiders loan signing admitted he was flung in at the deep end in his first days as a Pool player.
The striker signed too late to face Fleetwood last Saturday and didn't even know he was heading to Latvia until after the rest of the Blackpool squad had departed.
Then, less than 24 hours after linking up with the team – and after just a few days light training at Watford – he was thrust straight into a match situation.
The 27-year-old played two games in two days in Latvia and although he was shattered on his return to England, he was happy to have come through his early test without injury and feeling fitter.
"I didn't get a call until early Sunday morning when the Blackpool secretary rang me and said the gaffer wanted me to be out in Latvia," revealed Kabba, who signed on a six-month loan from the Hornets at the end of last week.
"I did hear about it on the Friday but nothing got resolved so I didn't think I was going to Latvia. But then I got a call on Sunday so I made my way out here and met up with the boys.
"I had only trained a week at Watford before I came here so it wasn't ideal conditions to go straight into a game.
"But then again it's like most teams these days – they seem to get straight into games after a week or 10 days of being back from the summer break.
"I got through it with no injuries, which is the main thing, and I'm sure it has done my fitness some good so I am pleased with that."
Kabba added: "It's been good just to get some football and the lads have been good with me, despite the fact that it was a bit weird linking up with them in Latvia – it was like my first day at new school.
"We got a decent result in the first game in Latvia, though obviously we didn't get wasn't the result we were looking for in the Skonto match.
"But they were both just fitness workouts to be honest.
"Two games in two days wasn't really ideal but we got the fitness up so that's the main thing."
With Pool strikers Ben Burgess and Danny Mitchley struggling with injuries, Kabba may have to play the majority of today's match at Wrexham – though at least this time he'll be ready for it.
Meanwhile Pool remain very hopeful of concluding a deal for Paul Dickov, despite a row with the player's agents.
First Artist Sports, who represent the 35-year-old, were angered by Thursday's widespread reports that Dickov had chosen to go to Blackpool.
But The Gazette understands that the bust up should be resolved and Dickov is still on course to become a Seasiders player next season.
