A STAR-STUDDED Blackpool Reserves team were crushed 7-1 by a youthful Preston North End side in last night's Bamber Bridge derby.
While Liam Chilvers and Jason Jarrett were the only 'names' involved for North End, the Seasiders fielded seven senior-squad men: Keith Southern, David Vaughan, Marlon Broomes, Danny Coid, Zesh Rehman, Stuart Green and keeper Matt Gilks.
Pool were ahead with just 120 seconds on the clock, Green curling in a pinpoint free-kick and again staking a claim for a loan move in front of several scouts.
But that was as good as it got as Preston made it a miserable night for Gilks, whose bid to oust Paul Rachubka as the club's number one has not started well.
Joe Anyinsah hit a hat-trick for North End, while Robert Turner hit a brace and Dominic Collins and Adam Barton also notched.
It was the second string's third straight defeat of the season after previous losses to Manchester City and Bury.
They have an early chance to get revenge over Preston – the ides meet again at Fleetwood Town next Wednesday.
