ALAN Gow's move to Blackpool could be back on after the dramatic collapse of the striker's transfer to table-topping Wolves.
On the day the Seasiders signed one frontman in Roy O'Donovan and lost out to Oldham in the race for Dean Windass, Gow failed a medical and was sent back to Rangers by Wolves boss Mick McCarthy.

But Rangers still want rid of the striker and that opens the door for the Seasiders to move back in for a player they were desperate to recruit just a week ago.

Seasiders secretary Matt Williams said: "As soon as we saw the news about Alan we spoke to Rangers and Alan's representatives and asked them for an update. He has gone back to Rangers and will spend the weekend considering his options.

"We will continue to monitor the situation. He is a player Tony Parkes rates highly and wants."

It all hinges on whether McCarthy decides to complete the signing once Gow's medical problem, which has been described as "minor", is resolved.
The Wolves boss said: "We'd agreed everything but something showed up.

It's nothing serious – it is something bio-mechanical but it's something for Alan and Rangers to sort out, not us."

Pool had agreed a £200,000 fee with Rangers for the 26-year-old Scot but McCarthy topped their bid.

Meanwhile, Blackpool have confirmed that they did attempt to sign veteran Hull striker Windass.

Oldham were yet to confirm the deal last night but Pool say he has opted for the League One club for purely geographical reasons – Windass' young family is based in Ilkley.

Pool can console themselves with the knowledge that the attacking situation at Bloomfield Road is looking a whole lot healthier after the acquisitions of two frontmen and a winger in the last frantic 48 hours.

Sunderland striker Roy O'Donovan yesterday joined on loan until the end of the season, following Leicester's DJ Campbell and Middlesbrough winger Graeme Owens to Bloomfield Road.

O'Donovan was the biggest thing in Irish football two years ago – top scorer for Cork City by some distance.

Fulham thought they had wrapped up a £750,000 deal to sign the 23-year-old in the summer of 2007 but the Black Cats – who were then managed by O'Donovan's boyhood hero Roy Keane – pipped them.

Despite starting two matches and making 19 Premier League and Cup appearances from the bench, O'Donovan struggled to make an impression in his first year in England.

This season he has been on loan at Dundee United but scored only once in 13 appearances and has spent much of his time out of the team.
He was recalled by Sunderland over Christmas but new boss Ricky Sbragia now hopes O'Donovan will rebuild his confidence by scoring goals for the Seasiders.

A delighted Parkes said: "I'm really pleased we have got him and suddenly our squad is looking much healthier and much stronger.

I hope we do Sign Him - He is a Class Player

Rangers accepted a £200,000 bid for Gow from Blackpool.
Wolves came in and offered £50,000 more, trying to be clever. Gow fails medical but you cant blame Gow - Blame his Agent, Rangers and Wolves.
Gow gave 100% at Blackpool and covered more of the pitch in one game than Kabba has done all his career.

I wish Alan Gow all the Best for the future wherever he decides to play. He doesnt deserve the stick people are giving him - What short memories the critics have! As for the reasons why Mr.Gow failed his medical -

"The study of biomechanics ranges from the inner workings of a cell to the movement and development of limbs, to the mechanical properties of soft tissue, and bones".

Thank you 'the-saint' for your explanation of Gow's biomechanical problem ... it's certainly cleared up why Wolves have not signed him. As the 'subject expert' have you any idea why 'Pools mediacl team failed to pick up on this? You are also absolutely right about Kabba ... he turned out to be a bad loan signing but then most loanees are like that aren't they ... no loyalty, just enough effort given, flash suits, flash boots, give me a cushion to sit on the bench (saves me having to shower) mentality. Mmmmm sounds a bit like Alan Gow to me ... send him packing to Burnley or Norwich or even Leeds ... in my opinion, they deserve him. BLackpool deserve to be treated better. Rememeber Dickov, Hoolahan and Gorkss ... then give your wholehearted support to Southern, Jorgensen, Crainey, Coid, GTF and BBB et al

The problem is that all Football Fans Support their chosen team
Players play Football as a Career to earn as much money as they can in a short time.
They want to play at the highest level that their talent can take them.
It is the same in every career - You cant blame players fior having their heads turned by rich promises - it is a part of Life.

We fans should support the guys that put the shirt on for however long they are with us and be grateful for their efforts - no one can either name nor care about the 1,000 players released by Clubs every year who have had their hopes raised thinking they are going to make the grade - or the poor players who have had their career ended by injury.

Loyalty is the same in football as it is in Industry except for the Fans - They live for the Club and the players that pass through with a talent that most of us would love to have.

... on Gows Back 10/01/2009 11:46:43
Thanks again for your comments 'the-saint' ... I think the problem in your 'argument' comes in your third sentence ... "they want to play" ... it doesn't take a superbrain to work out that at 'the current Blackpool' Gow would be able to play football - and providing he put in the effort - every week. At a club like Wolves he would be a squad player at best and not even sure of getting on the bench. Where does "wanting to play" fit into this scenario? Your comment, in your second post, about 'us supporting the guys who put the shirt on' doesn't seem to gel with your first post comment about Kabba ... true as it was! Whatever, you want Gow back ... I want to see the back of him ... that's football for you. Up the 'Pool

Mr Butcher,

Gow would have been a bench player at Wolves. Playing regularly for Blackpool in the Championship would be much better for him. He is a bit of a luxury player. Some games when he is on form he is a cut above. Other times he's looked well out of sorts. We have a more patient fan base in comparison to the bigger clubs in the Championship like Wolves who won't be so tolerate of that. I think he would be being very sensible if he came back to the seaside.

i agree with you saint 100% on everything you have said, the rest of you, talk about biting your nose off to spite ya face????? gow is a bargain at 200k and makes us a stronger squad by far???? he had the chance to make more money and a dream of making it to the premier league?? its easy for you lot knock him for that but if you got offered as little as £4 an hour extra to do the same job somewhere else youd all jump!! i think BBB is absolute rubbish but at the games when he plays im behind him 100% as i am with any other player who pulls on the tangerine!! all i care about is making us better and staying in this league and if that means bringing gow, clarke, gorkss and hoolahan all back so be it!!!
