Pool Player of Year revealed
STEPHEN Crainey insisted he didn't want to hog the limelight at the Seasiders player of the season ceremony - despite claiming the lion's share of the prizes.
The Scottish left back sealed a terrific first year at Bloomfield Road by winning FIVE different awards - more than any other Blackpool player.
Kaspars Gorkss was the only other player to win a player of the season award.
Crainey declared himself "delighted and hugely honoured" to have won so many awards.
But the 26-year-old doesn't like the limelight and he was quick to point out that this season - which has seen Pool survive in the Championship - hadn't been an individual effort.
"It is a massive honour to win player of the season, absolutely great and I am really pleased," said Crainey, who was also named The Gazette's player of the year before Sunday's home game with Watford, voted for by thousands of readers.

"But I feel like I am just collecting it on behalf of the other boys to be honest because it has been a great team effort by everyone this season.
"I have loved my time at this club.
"Right from the very first day of training I felt accepted and that is a big help in football.
"When you go to a new club you want to be made to feel welcome and I felt I was at Blackpool. That helped me settle in straight away.
"People ask me if I've been surprised by how well I've done this season but I've not been. I've always been confident in my own ability.
"Maybe at other clubs I've not the chance to show what I can do but at Blackpool this season I've been given that opportunity and I've just been chuffed to bits with the year I've had.
"But I really I can't speak highly enough of the other boys because they helped me settle in and they have all played a big part in what this club has done so far this season."
Crainey attended last night's ceremony despite undergoing surgery last week to repair cartilage damage in his knee after a training ground injury that forced him to miss the final two games.
"It was a very disappointing way to end what's been such a good season but it is just one of those things that happen in football," said Crainey.
"I was training on the Friday before the Plymouth game, everything was going fine and in the last two minutes of the session I went up for a header, was nudged off the ball slightly and I just landed awkwardly on my knee.
"Unfortunately for me I tore my cartilage.
"I knew I had done something as soon as I had landed. You know your own body and you know when there is something wrong and there obviously was.
"When I get the results of the scan it was really disappointing but I've had the operation now and I just want to be back and fresh and ready and raring to go as soon as possible.
"I haven't been given any timescale about when I'll be back but all that concerns me is being fully fit for when we report back for the start of pre-season.
"I'm sure I will be. I've got a good eight weeks till then so fingers crossed it should be fine."
Crainey will be a Blackpool player next year. When he arrived from Leeds United last summer he signed a one-year contract with an option for a further year. But that option has been automatically triggered by virtue of the number of games he has played.
"I'm pleased about that because I've really settled in the area with my missus and the kids," he added.
"We've made a few friends and I don't want to be chopping and changing every season, especially because of my kids being at school, I don't want to disrupt them.
"So I am delighted with how it's going and I'm really enjoying being at Blackpool."
Ben Burgess picked up a prize for finishing top scorer, while Paul Dickov won goal of the season for his brilliant individual effort against Hull.
But like Wes Hoolahan, who won a 'champagne moment' award for his cheeky penalty that sunk Preston at Deepdale, he wasn't at the ceremony to collect his award.
Danny Mictchley, who hit 35 goals for the reserve and youth team and recently signed professional terms, picked up two young player awards.
