Organisers are predicting a crowd of 2,000 for the boxing event, scheduled for St Annes Cricket Club on Sunday, September 6.

The marathon promotion is being billed as an 'all-dayer' with the first bout at noon and the headline contest scheduled for around 6.45pm.

The Kirkham club have arranged the schedule to fall in line with various factors, not least Blackpool Illuminations traffic.

The show will be promoted under the header of 'Lancashire's Best against the Rest'.

It was originally going to be a War of the Roses with a Lancashire versus Yorkshire theme, the headline bout being a Scott Cardle v Liam Cameron rematch.

However, owing to the unprecedented level of interest from amateur boxing clubs all over the country, Kirkham decided to go with 'The Rest' tag.

The outdoor theme has caught the imagination of amateur boxing clubs nationally.

Club spokesman Joe Cardle said: "It seems everybody wants to box on the bill!

"I'm sure the geographical location and the fact that the Illuminations start the same week-end has a lot to do with it.

"There hasn't been a similar outdoor event locally in recent years and we are anticipating the show to be a great success."

There will be 20 to 22 bouts in total with the cream of both junior and senior boxing talent on display.

There will be an array of entertainment, food concessions and beer tents as well as celebrity guest appearances.

Invites are going out to Ricky Hatton and Amir Khan to come to the show.
A number of Olympic prospects are expected to feature.

Tickets for the event are £15 for adults and £5 for children.

There is a strictly limited number of corporate/VIP Ringside tickets which will include buffet dinner and entry to the clubhouse, priced at £50

This is an all-ticket event and there will no pay-at-the-gate facilities.
