WES Hoolahan's stock has risen dramatically after clinching a place in Giovanni Trapattoni's first Republic of Ireland squad.
Speculation about the Seasiders' winger's future is growing with a host of clubs reported to be queuing up to try to woo him.
Hoolahan's inclusion in Trapattoni's 28-man squad for the friendly internationals against Colombia and Serbia later this month has triggered a rash of fresh reports suggesting that the Seasider is a wanted man.
Norwich boss Glenn Roeder is certainly one manager believed to be actively pursuing Hoolahan.
However, it remains likely that the winger will be a target for one of the Championship's bigger hitters, such as Wolves, Charlton, Watford or last night's play-off losers Crystal Palace.
Hoolahan flew back to Ireland after Blackpool's final game against Watford and didn't show for the end-of-season player of the year awards.
He is said to have told friends that he won't be playing his football at Bloomfield Road next year.
He remains under contract at Pool but he has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave if another club bids in excess of £250,000.
With the help of agents, this will be known by other clubs and makes Pool's chances of hanging onto Hoolahan appear slim.
"I would hope he is still our player next season but I can't say for definite because if it doesn't happen then it will look as though I don't know what I'm talking about," said Seasiders boss Simon Grayson.
"If he's still here great and that's what I hope will happen."
Hoolahan jets to Portugal tomorrow to link up with the Republic of Ireland squad and take part in a training camp.
The Republic take on Colombia on May 24 and Serbia on May 29.
Italian Trapattoni, who guided AC Milan and Juventus to Serie A titles in his homeland, replaced Steve Staunton as Irish boss in March and is said to have been impressed by Hoolahan.

best player in blackpools history?? wrong! hoolahan came to a league one club which just survived relegation the season before, if he was agreed to a contract at the start of the season he would of been on lower wages and no release clause so yes it is oystons fault! oh its wes's fault for wanting to earn as much money and play at the highest level as possible

Why has everything got to be oystons fault? have you asked hoolahan or his agent if that clause in the contract was the only way he would sign for a team who had just finished in the lower part of league one

Raptor, why has everything got to be oystons fault, are you for real. Look at our ground, season ticket prices, investment, his comments for the past 12 months, his hotel, office space. Need I go on, you are either a preston fan, or a martian.

It is quite obvious that the £250k is a trade-off so the club could offer Wes lower wages than he was asking for. I doubt many Championship clubs have their top players with £250k release clauses!!!!!

Sorry but this is just another example of a short sighted chairman, and yes that is CO. Look at the ground, it has been stated time and time again but the club is a shambles, all of this is CO's fault!!!!!

VB get rid of this monkey on your back.....

Lets face it Wes is on his way, but the contract states he has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave if another club bids in EXCESS of £250,000. So that doesnt mean that Pool will only get £250,000 thats the minimum, so some good financial dealing could see some good money come in, which will be good business. A great option would be Paul Martin. If SG can sign him for a long term loan, that could be a good move. As stated before, Wes needs to be able to kick with both feet and needs more power in his shooting range, so dont think he can even compare with the likes of Tony Green. I just hope that SG is looking for some good long term loan players from the Premiership and use the Wes money wisely Dave

Well, Well, Wellllllll, if Wes wants to do the honourable thing and re-negotiate a better deal and stay at the club, then great, but, if he doesn't want to stay, then let him go, he hardly lit the stage up during the 2nd half of the season.Wish him luck and lets get on with things. As for KO, well we can bleat on here forever and a day, the only way we will possibly get rid is with organised,well-behaved marches, controlled protests before and after games,(not during, lets get behind the team during play,)half-times, and rallies, even then we've probably no chance of them going.
