SIMON Grayson has revealed he is looking to eastern Europe to strengthen his squad next month.
The Seasiders boss has expanded his scouting network to take in several games overseas.
Grayson has "former internationals" on trial at the club and could sign them soon after the transfer window opens on New Year's Day.

Grayson admits that many players he has enquired about in the English game have over-inflated price tags.
That could be a reference to the £400,000 fee League Two Bury are reported to have slapped on striker and long-time Pool target Andy Bishop.

Grayson said: "We've had scouts at several different clubs over the last few weeks, not necessarily in England.
"We have a few triallists in who aren't English but are worth a look.
"It has been proved that there are some good players in foreign countries and they are probably cheaper than English players.

"You wonder where some English clubs get their prices from because the players haven't proved themselves.
"We've got players on trial who have been capped at international level and won't cost us a great deal of money.
"You have to go down that avenue and hope that your scout and his contacts get you one or two good ones.
"Plymouth have proved how to do it. They have exploited the east European market and it's an area we are actively looking into at."

A Latvian goalkeeper is understood to be among the players training with the first-team squad.
Almost 12 months since the arrival of Kaspars Gorkss, it is clear that a few more foreigners could be about to join the club.

"We are looking all over Europe," added Grayson, "and there might be one or two more triallists coming over during the next few weeks."

Some supporters think Pool's January signings are crucial to their Championship survival chances but Grayson does not regard the window as the club's make-or-break.

He said: "I think we've proved we are a decent team. We've matched many sides but have not put the ball in the back of the net – and that's not just the strikers, it's the midfielders and wide players too.

"If we had to go until the end of the season with what we've got, I'd still be fully positive that the players would achieve the target of staying up.

"But we do need to increase the quality of the squad and the competition for places.
"We will try to get players in as soon as the window opens but that isn't always possible.
"You have to be patient. Calls are going in to managers, agents and players.
"It depends how quickly clubs want to release players and how quickly they can get players in to replace the ones they are letting go."
