Blackpool have until midnight on Monday to strengthen their squad for the crucial next few months.
The transfer window deadline has been extended 24 hours because it falls on a Sunday.
The cut-off point is midnight on September 1 and chances are Simon Grayson could be busy.
His first decision is whether or not to extend the loans of Mo Camara and Sone Aluko.
But, perhaps more importantly, he must also decide if he brings in more players on temporary deals.
On that front, the result at Southampton could make up his mind.
Another defeat is likely to leave Pool bottom of the Championship and may persuade the manager that he needs further reinforcements.
As for Camara and Aluko, their Blackpool futures largely depend on the fitness of others.
Stephen Crainey has had an injection in his groin. It's hoped it will speed up his return from injury but if it doesn't work, Grayson will sign Derby left back Camara for at least another two months.
Frontman Aluko hasn't made the last two squads – he missed out at Norwich through illness and was left out of the squad altogether against Sheffield United – but he offers security should Stephen McPhee and Daniel Nardiello not show signs of improvement.
Both McPhee and Nardiello are highly unlikely to be involved at Southampton on Saturday but hope to be back in contention for the following match, at home to Barnsley.
Grayson must weigh up whether it's worth keeping 19-year-old Birmingham striker Aluko, but the signs are he probably will.
"It's initially a month's loan but we might extend it to January," said the manager.
"It will be dictated by our injury situation and how he has performed.
"We had to sign Sone. It was a needs must really because going into the first game against Bristol City we only had Ben Burgess fit ... and the injury situation has not improved much since then.
"We looked around for another striker and I knew a lot about Sone already.
"We watched quite a bit of Aberdeen last year (when the Seasiders were chasing Lee Miller) and Sone was there.
"We then found out he was available on a short term and season-long loan and we decided it was the right thing to do to get him here.
"He has electric pace and quality on the ball. He has played in the England youth set ups and during his time on the pitch for us so far he showed glimpses of what he can do.
"He's been excellent in training too and it's a pity he wasn't available at Norwich because of illness.
"I think if Sone plays as he is capable of playing, the fans will take him and he will be a help to us from now until however long we have him."
The transfer window deadline is slightly misleading.
After Monday there is a week-long cooling off period. Clubs are then free to sign more players on a 93-day emergency loan.
