FIVE players are leaving Fleetwood Town as the Unibond League champions prepare to step up into the Blue Square North.
Four have been released, while defender Shaun Gray, who originally joined on loan from Morecambe a couple of seasons ago, has departed at his own request due to travellling problems.
Told that they won't be required in tier two of non-league are for
mer Preston North End defender/midfielder Michael Brown, centre-half Martin Moran, ex-Southport winger Jerome Watt and former skipper Jez Fitzgerald.
Those who have accepted terms for next season are Ricky Mercer, Shaun Beeley, Andy Bell, Phil Denney, Phil Robinson, Alex Taylor and goalkeepers Danny Hurst and Mike Hale.
Already under contract are new skipper Jamie Milligan, Nathan Pond, Steve Foster, Andy Moran, Kieran Walmsley and Warren Beattie.
Pond and Robinson are the club's two survivors from the North-West Counties League promotion campaign.
Manager Tony Greenwood should have no difficulty bringing his squad up to strength for the new campaign. The club say manager Tony Greenwood's phone has been red-hot since promotion was clinched in front of over 2,600 fans.
A club spokesman said: "A high number of quality players have phoned saying they are keen to join Fleetwood Town.
"Tony will certainly strengthen the squad with new blood as he continues to prepare for the new challenge."
n The stadium admission price at Highbury next season will rise to £10 (£5 for seniors and under-16s) following promotion to the Blue Square North.
Supporters can save money by purchasing a 10-game book of tickets, priced £80 for adults, £40 for seniors and £25 for under-16s.
Full season tickets are priced £160 for adults, £80 for seniors and £50 of under-16s.
n FA Vase winners Kirkham and Wesham FC have set a pre-season friendly with Fleetwood Town for Saturday, July 19.
Kirkham also hope to finalise friendlies against Blackpool and Bamber Bridge ahead of their first season in Vodkat division one, and a trip to play Whitley Bay.
