FORMER Blackpool favourite Claus Jorgensen has signed for Fleetwood Town.
The 33-year-old arrives at Highbury after spending the last month on a non-contract basis at Port Vale.

The midfielder played exactly 100 league games for the Tangerines after joining from Coventry in August 2006.

He was in the starting line-up at Wembley when Pool beat Yeovil to secure promotion in the League One play-off final.

His final appearance came on the last day of the last season at Swansea, when he came on as a late sub.

And Town chairman Andy Pilley says it's a huge deal for the club.

"I'd like to welcome Claus to Highbury and to Fleetwood Town Football Club," he said.

"We know all about him and he is a fantastic professional.

"He's a box-to-box midfield player full of the attributes you would want any professional footballer to possess.

"He will be a shining example to the players on, and off, the pitch on how to conduct themselves and play a professional game."

After being released by The Seasiders at the end of last season, Jorgensen joined Port Vale where had made five substitute appearances for Micky Adams' side.

However, after Vale failed to match Jorgensen's demands, he opted to look for another club.

The Dane will go straight into the squad for tonight's game away at Farsley.

Joining him will be former Bury striker Gareth Seddon.

The 29-year-old Kettering Town star, who hit 23 goals Conference last year, joins Town for a significant fee.

I suppose hes looking to go into coaching thru a small club, this would be ideal for both Fleetwood and Claus.

I feel so sorry for Claus... they did a piece on him on Sky last week. He is a true professional that should be a role model for any other footballer out there. He isn't in it for the money and doesn't believe in agents.

Its such a shame no league 1 or EVEN league 2 club is wanting him. He was and still is a fantastic player and I honestly see him as one of Fleetwood's star players now! No disrespect to Fleetwood, but he is like Charlie Adam to Blackpool!

Good luck Claus... you will always be welcome back to Bloomers!

The Daily Mail ran an article of Claus recently as well. A top bloke and a top professional. I think you will find location had something to do with signing for Fleetwood as well as the fact they are a club on the up. Rather than uproot his young family and move away from the Fylde Coast he has signed for a local club. It also wouldn't surprise me if Fleetwood haven't offered him improved terms over the contract Port Vale were offering.

I agree though Claus could still have done a good job for a local Football League club such as Bury, Morecambe, Accrington or Rochdale. But maybe this shows how ambitious Fleetwood are. Good luck to both parties.
