BEN Burgess was handed the no.9 shirt when Blackpool's squad numbers were announced for the coming season.
The big striker will pull on the shirt vacated by last season's top scorer DJ Campbell.

Brett Ormerod has been allocated the no.10 shirt he wore in his most prolific spell with the club nine years ago.

Shaun Barker is no.5, perhaps indicating his permanent move to the centre-back position and Pool's determination to keep hold of the sought-after defender.

New signing Billy Clarke will wear no.7 on his back, while Joe Martin takes over the no.14 shirt from David Fox, who has moved on to Colchester.

Young striker Danny Mitchley takes the no.17 shirt from the released Jermaine Wright.

First year professional Ashley Eastham will wear no.22.

In all 13 players have kept the same number as last season and here's the line-up the numbers would suggest.

1 Paul Rachubka 2 Danny Coid 3 Stephen Crainey 4 Keith Southern 5 Shaun Barker 6 Ian Evatt 7 Billy Clarke 8 Stephen McPhee 9 Ben Burgess 10 Brett Ormerod 11 David Vaughan.

Excuse the typo, that should be 'relegation'. I hope Ollie has some signings lined up or we could be struggling this season.

You need to get a life Philstar. Your berating a person for doing his job. If you don't want to know about the players numbers then don't read the article. Also a player receiving a number so high, considering we don't have 22 players, is interesting. I'm also interested in how our youth players are coming through even if your not.
