THE closure of the baths may have spelled the end of the St Annes Triathlon ... but it's no surprise that the organiser of this gruelling event showed great endurance to keep his dream alive.
Tim Armit has reinvented his swimming, running and cycling-running extravaganza as the Fleetwood Triathlon – and it takes place this Sunday.

Organiser Armit said: "Wyre Council has been fantastic in supporting us and the day will be packed with fun. It's a great challenge for kids and adults, but there's no pressure on anyone."

The youngest entrants (the minimum age is seven) will swim two lengths of Fleetwood YMCA Leisure Centre pool before cycling a mile of the Promenade, which will be closed off to traffic, and finishing with a 600m run around Marine Lake.

The distances will increase as the entrants get older, with adults swimming 400m, cycling 12 miles and and running 5km.
Spectators are most welcome and the five-hour event starts at 8am.
