Town's Grand offer may not be enough
Fleetwood Town FC are considering other transfer options after their bid to sign defender Simon Grand from Blue Square North rivals Northwich Victoria hit a stalemate.
The clubs have agreed a fee but the former Rochdale and Morecambe player, 25, appears keen to keep his options open.
Town chairman Andy Pilley, who has already completed four signings sincethe end of Town debut BSN season, says the deal remains on the table but other options are being explored.
Pilley said: "The clubs have agreed a significant fee and we were given permission to speak to the player.
"Despite Simon being very interested in joining Fleetwood, I understand he would like to establish if he can secure a move to a Football League or Blue Square Premier side.
"The board at Fleetwood feel we cannot wait and allow potential alternative players to become fixed up with rival clubs. That means the club are now actively exploring the availability of other quality players.
"The door is not shut for Simon Grand and we will be delighted if he decides to commit his future to Highbury. However, we will be similarly delighted if we secure an equally talented player."
