Seasiders teams are so great in the Plate

TWO Blackpool FC Girls' teams won through to finals in the Wigan tournament.

And although the under-16 finished runners-up in the plate final, the under-10s were victorious in their equivalent tournament.

The under-16s went through to the plate competition after a win, a draw and a defeat in their group games. They first held eventual plate winners Liverpool Feds to a draw before defeating Fillies 3-0, with goals by Becky Preston, Beth Fisher and Alice Jackson, and losing 2-0 to Penwortham.

The plate brought another convincing win over Fillies, this time 6-0 as Alice Jackson scored a hat-trick, Becky Preston netted two and Sinade Doria the other, with Emma Perrett in fine form.

A second defeat by Penwortham, this time only 1-0, was followed by a 3-0 success against Bleak Hill which earned them a place in the final.

They were edged out by Feds in the final, despite solid defending by Alex Cherry, Beth Fisher, Gabriella May and Jasmine Sanderson.

The under-10s picked up after a slow start had seen them draw two and lose one of their first three.

But in the second half of the tournament they found their feet with goals from Alisha Yarwood, Chyna Appleton, Stephanie Haigh and Georgia Timperley.

Some fine football against Vicars Cross, Mill Hill and Penrith earned them a third match against Vicars Cross in the final.

Two goals by Alisha Yarwood sealed a 2-0 success as the girls started the summer tournament season in style.
