Rossall invited independent schools from across the North West for its prestigious junior sevens rugby tournament and AllStars was invited along too to cover the event.

The main tournament was won by Manchester Grammar, beating Grange 25-7 in the final, while Buchan school clinched the Plate competition with a 21-0 over Liverpool College in the final.

The best performers among the Fylde coast contingent were Kirkham Grammar School, who reached the semi-finals of the main competition only to lose out to eventual winners Manchester.

KGS had won all their group games without conceding a point, beating Grange 5-0, St Bede’s 40-0 and Liverpool College 35-0. They then overcame St Mary’s Crosby in the quarter-finals.

Hosts Rossall also qualified in the main competition after winning two of their three group games. They defeated Westholme 10-5 and Altrincham Prep 20-15 only to lose 15-10 to Birkenhead.

Like KGS, though, Rossall found Manchester an obstacle too far and lost to them in the quarter-finals. AKS went through to the Plate competition after beating St Ambrose 15-0, while losing to Buchan B 5-0 and the unstoppable Manchester team 40-0.

AKS won their plate quarter-final against Westholme but lost to Liverpool College in the semis,
