Fylde RFC Colts have had a timely boost.
The Senior Colts travelled to Vale of Lune with only 12 men but gave an outstanding performance to win 31-29, while the Junior Colts hosted Blackburn and won 21-10.
These victories followed a training session in which first XV players Scott Barrow and Pete Altham volunteered to coach the seniors and juniors.
Scott and Pete are the club’s community rugby coaches and 20 young players attended the session which covered passing and drawing defenders, attacking space and dynamic rucking.
The aim of the Colts set-up is to encourage participation among 16-19 year olds,
Fylde see the future of the Colts as vital to maintaining a development path to senior rugby in the area.
The club’s Chairman of Rugby Roger Grocott said: “I’m delighted that Fylde are running Junior and Senior teams this season.
“It’s been four or more seasons since we’ve had teams at both age levels. This is vital if we are to provide a continuous development path for our young players, bridging the gap between junior and adult rugby.
