It’s a big day for Michael Lawton on Saturday as he makes his debut for Fylde away to Loughborough Students in National League One.

He has played in the All Irish League for Dungannon and more recently for Ballynahinch, who won the Division 1B Championship last season.

Lawton takes the place of Ollie Viney.

Nelson said: “Viney has been playing very well for us, but he is away at the end of the month and we need to look at Lawton.

“It is no reflection on Viney, but there will be rotation this season.

“We want to give Lawton his chance in his preferred position of full-back – I have had good reports about him from playing from the Hawks and I have been impressed with what I have seen of him in training.”

Centre Scott Barrow and back row forward Joe Robinson are both out with shoulder injuries.

Ben Vernon has recovered earlier than expected after hurting his hand in a domestic accident and is on the bench – Danny Maher slots into the back row.

Richard Kenyon comes into the centre.

With Ryan De La Harpe absent, Tom Webb is named at scrum-half, with Jordan Dorrington on the bench

Fylde: Lawton; Spragg, C Briers, Kenyon, Brennand; Johnson, Webb; Birchall, Burtonwood, Altham, Gore, Arnold, Maher, Stewart, Beaumont. Replacements: Lewis, Rylance, Vernon, Dorrington, Hough.
