Fylde rugby club have clinched the signing of experienced Lancashire hooker Mark Rylance ahead of the 2013/14 season.

Formerly of Waterloo and latterly Caldy, Rylance has been brought in after the decision by hooker Jonny Roddam to retire at the end of last season.

Fylde head coach Mark Nelson said: “I am delighted that Mark has agreed to join us for the coming season.

“I coached him when he was part of the Sale Academy at Merchant Taylors in Liverpool.

“He has played consistently well for Caldy and I always thought he would reach his full potential at this point in his career.

“It is great to have an experienced hooker such as Mark and a young developing player in Tom Burtonwood in the squad.

“Mark knows a lot of the players and will relish the way that we play the game.”
