FYLDE RU players scored two of the four tries as Lancashire Under-20s maintained their northern counties title challenge with a 24-3 win over Northumberland at Sedgley Park.
Fylde centre Sam Russell gave them the ideal start with a try after five minutes, though Northumberland quickly cut the deficit with a penalty and it remained 5-3 at half-time.
The home side struck again soon after the restart with a penalty try following the collapse of a powerful driving maul.
Preston Grasshoppers fly-half Alex Zavallis-Roebuck landed the first of his two conversions and then set up the third try with a neat chip, which was collected by Fylde’s replacement centre Kelham O’Hanlon, who presented Preston full-back Sean Taylor with the scoring pass.
Fylde No.8 Josh Beaumont scored the final try after a break down the wing by Bath University’s Max Ashcroft.
