Fylde RFC forward Evan Stewart is leaving the club at the end of the season to take up a player-coach role with Vale Of Lune.
The former Fylde skipper will take over at the Lancaster club in time for the start of the 2017-18 campaign.
The move is a disappointment to Fylde as he is such a valuable player, whose services will be missed.
At Vale he will work alongside coach Dan Williams developing the senior squad.
Stewart, who recently became a father for the first time, has close links with the Lancaster area.
He works at Lancaster Royal Grammar School as head of games and director of rugby.
Stewart played for Loughborough Students and Macclesfield prior to his successful move to the Woodlands, linking up with Fylde in 2011.
He skippered Fylde for three seasons and during his time there was capped by Lancashire and England Counties.
