Rawlings has linked up with the Cheshire club who are currently heading the standings in National League North,

Fylde player-coach Paul Arnold said: “Scott has fallen down the pecking order at Fylde and this is a chance for him to get first team rugby at a club that are flying at the moment.

“He has not been playing well and this is a good chance for him to get his confidence back.”

Rawlings started the season in the centre berth for Fylde, combining that with kicking duties, but he has found recently that the likes of Connor Wilkinson, Sam Bedlow and Ralph Dowds have been preferred ahead of him.

Rawlings will link up with his brother Gareth, the second row forward, who is already there.

Also on the Sale books are fly-half Chris Johnson and prop forward Danny Birchall, who like Gareth Rawlings, left the Woodlands club in the close season.

Another player making the temporary move from Fylde is second row forward Nick Gray.

The lock, who was named young player of the year at Fylde last season, has linked up with Championship side Doncaster Knights.

Gray, only just recovering from a back injury that has ruled him out of action in recent matches, is joining the Championship club for a brief spell to be considered for the British and Irish Cup competition.

Player-coach Arnold said: “Nick has only just returned after a bit of a scare with his back.

“He is fit again and is in training.

“We don’t want to disrupt our second row as it stands at the moment, so Nick is going to Doncaster, probably for a couple of weeks.”
