Fylde are in talks to sign Tynedale back row forward Joe Robinson.
The Woodlands club hope to tie up the signing in the next few days.
Robinson is a former England 18-group international, whom Fylde have been tracking for some time.
Coach Mark Nelson said: “Joe is considering the offer we have made to him and we do need cover in the back five.
“He is a quality player and an out-and-out number six - we had to mix it up by playing number sevens and eights in that position last season,
“I am very positive about signing Robinson - we have just got to finalise the deal and I am hoping that he will be a Fylde player within the week.”
Fylde are also talking to Caldy hooker Mark Rylance, while winger Curtis Strong has joined Sedgley Park
