SCRUM-half Callum McShane is rested as Fylde prepare for the trip to Tynedale, with coach Mark Nelson still mulling over his half-back options.
He has decided to choose Stephen Depledge at scrum-half, but has yet to determine whether Steve Collins or Richard Kenyon will fill the fly-half berth.
Nelson said: “McShane has been involved with Lancashire Under-20s, and also has a game with Sale Jets next week, so we have decided to rest him as part of the rotation policy.”
In addition, prop Simon Griffiths will not be included.
Nelson said: “Simon already travels up to Fylde from Anglesey and it is unfair to ask him to travel all the way up to Tynedale as well.”
Oli Brennand and Mike Waywell are named in the back-line.
Nelson wants to see the side finish the campaign with a flourish, but he also admits that he is already planning ahead.
He said: “We need to end the season well, but as far as I am concerned next season starts here – I am already putting together building-blocks for next season.”
Fylde: Royle; C Briers, S Briers, Waywell, Brennand; Collins or Kenyon, Depledge; Livesey, Roddam, Lavelle, Arnold, Rawlings, Stewart, McGinnis, S Beaumont. Replacements: Altham, Loney, Ferguson, Wallwork, Viney.
*FYLDE RU forward Josh Beaumont is in the England Students squad to take on Wales at Twickenham Stoop, a week today.
On the back of their 31-28 defeat against the Portugal national side in Lisbon last month, head coach Steve Colwell feels that the squad is moving in the right direction.
He said: “We are looking to move forward from our defeat against Portugal – we are very proud of the way the team played and it gives us confidence moving into the fixture against Wales.
*FYLDE are exploring the possibility of bringing forward the kick-off time for the re-arranged home fixture with Cambridge tomorrow week to 2pm.
That is being considered in view of the fact that England take on Wales in a Six Nations clash at Twickenham.
