Quilligans find that little extra

Blackpool and Fylde Sunday Alliance side Quilligans can look forward to a place in the Lancashire Cup quarter-finals after winning an extra-time thriller against Rochdalians.

The first half of this rearranged fifth-round tie ended goalless at Collins Park, but then goals by Michael Evans and Steve Palmer put premier division Quilligans in control just after the hour.

However Rochdalians scored twice in the last seven minutes to take the game into extra-time only for Phil Thompson and Lee Broadbent to clinch a 4-2 win for Quilligans, who will entertain Station Hotel from Blackburn in the last eight this weekend.

In the Division Three Cup, AFC Ansdell Excelsior beat C B Choice Furniture 7-1 with a hat-trick from Daniel Garth and a pair from Adam Casson.

In the only other tie played, Ashiana went through to the second round courtesy of a surprise 4-0 win against No.4 Celtic.

Division One saw a number of high-scoring games, with FC Eden replacing FC Matrix in second spot after defeating them 4-3.

FC Loco remain top but struggled to beat Paris Casino 1-0, with Ben Berry scoring.

The Old Town Hall went fourth after the 3-0 success at North West Kitchens. Allan Perkes scored five for AFC Additions in the 6-0 win against bottom side G E Rushworth, while Bloomfield Vets and Fairhaven FC both scored six, with Ben McKay and Adam Greenwood hitting hat-tricks for their respective sides.

Division 2A leaders West Coast Tackle suffered their first defeat of the season, 5-4 to third placed Waterloo Sports, who led 4-1 at half-time. In the clash of the Seear family, Waterloo's Steven came out on top against his twin brothers with his man-of-the-match performance.

FC Brun Grove won 5-1 at Claremont Cons. with Michael Long and Ross Swift both scoring twice. FC Talbot and MA2 shared the points in a 3-3 result.

In division 2B, Boars Head's 4-2 win against Old England was acheived with the help of a Danny Kelly double.

Division 3A leaders Real Burlington overcame FC Newton 4-0, with Andy Harvie scoring twice and other goals from Matthew Davenport and Andrew Willacy.

Second-placed Farmers Arms struggled against bottom side Lane Ends before winning 5-3 as Stephen Farquhar grabbed a hat-trick, and Carl Hughes and Danny Slater also scored.
