Congratulations to Clifton Rangers Hornets on being crowned Poulton and District Primary League U13 A league champions.

The squad has been together over six years and worked their way up from the C league.

This is their first A league title and rewards years of hard work by the players and dedicated coaches.

Together they have proved that commitment to training and sticking together gives you strength to compete at the top level.

Paul Salanki’s team sealed the title with a 7-0 win over Wyre in their final game of the season, having been 3-0 up at half-time.

If there were any nerves among the Clifton players on Saturday morning, they soon disappeared and the team were busy from the off.

Hornets quickly settled into a steady rhythm and dominated throughout, pressing the opposition on the ball and forcing mistakes.

Goals quickly came and the standard of football and movement remained high throughout.

It was soon time for the celebrations to begin, with parents running on to the field to congratulate the players.

This was Rangers’ 20th win out of 22 league games. The teams who beat them, Clifton Rangers Wasps and Fleetwood Town, pushed them all the way.

But it was the Hornets team who emerged victorious. The team was: Dylan Rawcliffe Callum Fielding, Harvey Orwin, Ben Wilmott, Ryan Hamasalh, Nathan Shaw, James Benson-Brookfield, Bailey Blakeley, Will Salanki, Luke Mushet, Tom Campbell and Jack West
