Pool train ahead of Latvian friendly

BLACKPOOL are training today at the Olympic Sports Stadium, the venue for tonight's friendly game with FK Jelgava – a match which is being screened live on Latvian TV.

The president of the country will be guest of honour at the game, too see the Seasiders in action.

Pool's profile has been high in Latvia in the last few years because of Valery Belokon's investment. But the club's popularity has gone through the roof since they won promotion to the Premier League.

Tonight's game is a sell out, though despite the ground's rather grand sounding name – the Olympic Sports Stadium – the capacity is only 2,200.

The contest kicks off at 6.05pm local time (4.05pm in England).

New keeper Richard Kingston and left back David Carney aren't involved, with the latter on international duty in Switzerland.

Charlie Adam, Matt Gilks, David Vaughan, Neal Eardley, Craig Cathcart and Dekel Keinan are also missing, all involved in international games tomorrow night.

Boss Ian Holloway is likely to play two different 11s in each half, with DJ Campbell in line to make a third debut for the club – if that isn't a contradiction in terms.

THE GAZETTE'S WILLIAM WATT WILL BRING YOU ALL THE ACTION AS IT HAPPENS IN LATVIA, TODAY FROM 4PM.
