Pool claim 'moral victory' says boss

IAN Holloway enjoyed his first taste of a Lancashire derby so much he can't wait for the next one.

The Seasiders boss admitted he was disappointed Pool failed to beat their rivals Preston North End and missed out on the chance to go fourth top of the Championship.

But he described the 1-1 draw as "a moral victory" and said he was delighted with the type of football his side played.

"I thought we were terrific, absolutely fantastic. We have been playing like that all season but I am delighted we managed to do it in a derby game," he said.

"For me I felt it was a bit of a moral victory for those of us who have been at Blackpool and looked at Preston a bit enviously.

"There is a long way to go in the season but I was very proud of my team, I'm proud of how the stadium is progressing, the standard of the pitch ... but especially the way we are trying to play the game and entertain people.

"I'm glad people around the country, watching on their TVs, will have seen for themselves what I've been blabbing on about for the last six months.

"I want to entertain people by playing good football. I want it to look like Premier League football.

"When I watch Burnley I am proud of them. The way they do it is the right way. They will learn away from home. We're struggling a bit away too.

"But I want to be open. I've been inspired the last year or so by watching other people. Hopefully people will have seen this game and enjoyed it.

"And there was certainly a bit of pressure on. In the last week we've had Barcelona and Real Madrid, Everton and Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal … there was a little bit of a tough act to follow!

"But we did it so come on! Come on the Lancashire derby – it was beautiful!"
