BLOOMFIELD Road could be the place Nathan Delfouneso finally realises his potential, according to Ian Holloway.
A big future was expected of the 21-year-old when he first broke into Aston Villa’s first team, only for a frustrating couple of years to follow.
Holloway spotted his potential, and signed him on a season-long loan just before last month’s transfer deadline.
He’s made an impressive start to life at Blackpool, firing two goals in his home debut against Middlesbrough on Tuesday. And the Pool boss is full of praise for his latest scoring star.
“It’s all about getting him moving,” said Holloway. “If I can get Nathan moving and enjoying himself, and working hard, then I think he can be one hell of a player.
“I’m also delighted he chose us, as he had a choice of clubs as long as his arm.
“I just want to make sure that we play a huge part in him enjoying his football, and I thought you could see that on Tuesday night, he was smiling.”
Delfouneso is far from an inexperienced player, having broken into Aston Villa’s first team in 2008.
He has since made more than 40 appearances in the top flight.
However, after a couple of unsuccessful loan spells in the Championship, he only featured once last season for his club.
But Holloway thinks he has all the attributes to be a top player.
He said:”He strength, his pace, he can move it and he’s decent in the air. His start has been very, very pleasing.
“Everyone needs a good start at a new club, and that was a brilliant start for him on Tuesday night.”
