International darts returns to Fleetwood next week, when Marine Hall stages the Six Nations International Championships.

The home nations of England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland will be joined by the Netherlands in a tournament which brings together 17 players who featured in the BDO world championships this year.

The Dutch team will feature newly crowned world champion Christian Kist, who faces Tony O’Shea in a mouth-watering repeat of January’s world championship final.

O’Shea is on top form at present after winning th Dutch Open in Kist’s homeland last weekend, though victory in Fleetwood would represent the ultimate revenge.

Triple world champion Martin Adams leads England, who will be defending the title they took from Holland last year in Scotland.

Completing the England line-up are former world champion John ‘Boy’ Walton, Martin Atkins and Garry Thompson, who won the Lancashire Open in Fleetwood.

Ross Montgomery leads Scotland, while Wales are captained by Martin Phillips, the most capped international player of all time. The Dutch side will be among the favourites for the title and includes Wesley Harmes and Joey Ten Berg, respectively a world championship semi-finalist and finalist.

In the ladies’ competition, nine-time world champion Trina Gulliver is hoping to inspire England to take the title from a Wales team which includes the new Dutch Open champion Julie Gore.

Also in the England team are Bolton’s Lisa Ashton, the reigning world champion, Deta Hedman and Lorraine Farlam, who are ranked first and fourth in the world respectively.

The three-day event starts on Friday week (February 24), with the ladies’ group matches from 7pm.

The men’s group matches start at 10am the following day, with the finals of both championships on Sunday.

Tickets priced £5 per day or £10 for the full weekend are available from Marine Hall on (01253) 887693 or via www.marinehall.co.uk.
