LYTHAM Ladies remain top of hockey’s Lancashire Central premier division despite suffering their first defeat of the season at Garstang.
Although Lytham never found their best form, goals by Alix Townsend and Gilly Harrison kept them in contention only for Garstang to seal a 3-2 win ten minutes from time.
With Lytham Seconds also losing, 4-1 at home to Morecambe, it was left to the young Third team to lift spirits with a 4-0 win at Brookfield.
Lucy Gardiner’s strong runs were always a threat, and Lytham had a goal disallowed before Fran Beeby made it 1-0 at half-time.
With Mary Aldersley and Darcey Bray defending strongly, Lytham doubled their lead through Beeby’s second.
They proceeded to dominate and Grace Reddy notched two late goals to seal an excellent 4-0 win.
