League admits Adam mistake
THE Football League has held up its hands and admitted the referee got it wrong by not awarding a penalty when Charlie Adam was felled deep into stoppage time against Leicester.
In an email to Blackpool supporter Rob Kirkup – who had contacted the League about the number of refereeing decisions going against the Seasiders in recent weeks – the Football League's customer services officer Nick Jones said: "Having reviewed the incident in question, our head of referees (Dave Allison) acknowledges that a penalty should have been awarded in this instance.
"This is supported by the match assessor who was in attendance and it will be reflected in his report."
The admission justifies Ian Holloway's claims that Saturday's official Andy Haines got it wrong.
But it probably only adds to the frustration for the Pool boss.
Not only was his team denied a penalty, but Adam was booked for the incident and is suspended for the next two games.
