TEN years after his last victory in the tournament, Jonathan Ash has lifted the men’s open singles trophy at the Blackpool Table Tennis Championships.
Ash, 41, from St Annes, also won the veterans’ title in the tournament at Palatine Leisure Centre.
He said: “I quit playing ten years ago and returned last year, so it was great to come back to the tournament and win the title again.
“Winning the veterans’ as well to do the double made it even better.”
Jonathan and fellow St Annes player Julian Wilson face a new challenge this weekend.
Both have entered the first ever Lancashire racquet-athon.
This competition will combine tennis, table tennis, squash and badminton in an all-round test of skill.
