The St Annes Triathlon took place on Sunday, a sport for the young-at-heart as well as the young.

More than 500 competitors of all ages showed their athleticism and endurance to contest yesterday’s St Annes Triathlon.

Over 100 children joined men and women in the popular challenge which forms the second of the Fylde coast’s three annual triathlon events (it follows the Ribby Hall event and precedes the final one in Fleetwood).

The competitors were grateful for yesterday’s improved weather for the event which comprises a swim, cycle ride and run, undertaken one after the other with no break.

The competitors swim up to 400m in St Annes Pool before embarking on a cycle ride of up to 20k. The concluding run then takes the athletes on a 5km course to Fairhaven Lake and back.
