Gorkss to QPR?
QUEENS Park Rangers are hopeful of signing Seasiders defender Kaspars Gorkss this week.
But Pool's prospects of keeping Leicester's hands off their manager Simon Grayson have received a welcome boost.
The Seasiders boss, previously named as the Foxes fans' favourite to take over at the Walkers Stadium, is lagging well behind in the latest popularity poll.
While he would win by a landslide if Seasiders' fans voted on their first-choice manager, it is now a different story at Leicester where MK Dons boss Paul Ince has become the overwhelming favourite to replace the sacked Ian Holloway.
London club QPR have not officially named centre-half Gorkss as a transfer target but sources close to Loftus Road say they are confident of beating a host of Championship rivals to the Latvia international.
It is understood that Gorkss, whose Seasiders contract stipulates he is available at a bargain 250,000, is also wanted by East Anglian arch-rivals Ipswich and Norwich, while Preston, Watford and Scottish giants Rangers have also shown an interest.
Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric aims to appoint a manager by the start of next week and says he has drawn up a shortlist from 25 applicants.
Ince's is the only name definitely on that list after Mandaric officially requested MK Dons' permission to approach their manager. Pool chairman Karl Oyston insists Leicester have made no such approach to his club.
Ince got 42 per cent of votes cast in a poll of Leicester fans, with Sam Allardyce the second choice on 19 per cent.Grayson was tied for third place with ex-Preston and Derby manager Billy Davies on 12 per cent.
