THERE was a small piece of history created at Knott End, when the Society of Fylde Golf Captains held their autumn meeting.
Victory, and with it the William Pickles Trophy for the best individual singles stableford score, went to Mick Molloy, a past captain at Knott End.
It was the first time a Knott End member had won the trophy since the competition started in 1949.
It proved to be a special day for Knott End as they also won the Nickson Trophy, presented to the club with the four best combined scores”.
n LORA Fairclough has wasted no time carving out a new career after retiring from the Ladies European Tour at the end of the summer.
The former Solheim Cup player is passing on her considerable experience by coachinf at the Chilli Dip Academy, a few well hit drivers from her Adlington home.
The four-time Tour winner is also channelling some of her energies into the Lancashire Women’s Golf Association, which played an important role in developing her talents, by joining forces with training officer Anne Baines.
