ROYAL Lytham and St Annes player Emily Taylor is one of 10 top teenage golfers chosen to represent England in the French Lady Junior Championship at St Cloud, near Paris, from April 5-9.

The championship is contested by the cream of Europe’s Under-21 golfers and England players have a fine record in the event, with two wins and a success in the Under-18 competition in the past five years.

Emily is hoping to build on her fine performances of the last couple of years, including being part of the England team that won silver at the European girls’ championships in Sardinia last year.

The England squad is: Sophie Godley (Lindrick), 18; Georgia Hall (Remedy Oak), 15; Charley Hull (Woburn), 15; Bronte Law (Bramhall), 16; Elizabeth Mallett (Sutton Coldfield Ladies), 17; Meghan MacLaren (Wellingborough), 17; Amber Ratcliffe (Royal Cromer), 16; Emily Taylor (Royal Lytham and St Annes), 17; Lauren Taylor (Woburn), 17; Brogan Townend (Pleasington), 17.

Lauren Taylor is the British ladies’ champion while Charley Hull is the English and Welsh women’s strokeplay champion.

Together with Bronte Law, they have just been selected for the Ladies Golf Union preliminary Great Britain and Ireland Curtis Cup squad, while Georgia Hall is the reserve.

All four were in England’s winning team at the 2011 ladies’ Home Internationals.

Emily Taylor, Meghan MacLaren, Elizabeth Mallett, and Brogan Townend joined Georgia and Bronte in England’s winning team at the girls’ Home Internationals.

Brogan is the Faldo Series’ girls’ champion. Sophie Godley was runner-up at the 2011 English girls’ championship and Amber Ratcliffe was a member of the Great Britain and Ireland Under-16 team for the inaugural junior Vagliano Trophy, as were Georgia, Charley and Bronte.
