DE Vere Herons Reach member Alan Gunnigle had a memorable day at the Slaley Hall resort course.
He was one of De Vere club champions from 11 venues around the United Kingdom in action in the competition and won the inaugural De Vere Club (handicap) championship. Gunnigle scored an impressive 43 stableford points around the Priestman course.
Gunnigle’s prize saw him fulfil a boyhood dream, as joined Sandy Lyle (pictured together) in the De Vere Club PGA Seniors Championship pro-am
He reflected afterwards: “Shaking hands with Sandy Lyle on the final green following the pro-am was a truly memorable experience, as he was a boyhood hero of mine.”
Gunningle also got to meet another sporting hero in Andrew Flintoff, who handed over to him the winner’s trophy.
