MYERSCOUGH College’s golf academy won the British Colleges Sport Open Championship for the second year running and the third time in the last four years.
The successful quartet of Cameron Massey, Paul Kinnear, Fleetwood Golf Club’s Alex Croston and Ben Sardo triumphed in a show of complete dominance at the National Golf Centre, Woodhall Spa in Lincolnshire – Myerscough’s youngsters won both the team and individual championships.
It was Massey, who claimed the individual honours with a score of three under par to seal the clean sweep.
Victory in the team championship demonstrated the strength in depth of Myerscough’s golf academy.
The team finished the two rounds in a total score of four under par, nine shots clear of their nearest pursuers.
Massey was in outstanding form throughout 2011 – he is currently studying for a diploma in golf studies.
Kinnear was runner-up in the individual event with a total score of one under par.
Kinnear has represented England, Great Britain and Ireland, and recorded an impressive third-place finish in the Abu Dhabi Junior Golf Championship at the start of 2012.
Head PGA golf professional at Myerscough College, Craig Lea, praised his young students for producing one of the academy’s finest performances to date in the competition.
