Fuller's full of promise
KIRKHAM Amateur Boxing Club's fighter Kyle Fuller scored an upset victory at Liverpool, beating Warren Hardy of Liverpool's Gemini ABC in a thrilling contest.
Young Fuller, from Newton, opened the fight cautiously but soon found his range and began working behind his left jab, landing consistently with his over- hand right.
Picking up where he left off in the second, Fuller had his work cut out as Hardy charged out with a much-improved workrate.
Fuller gave as good as he got and his hard work in the gym paid off in the third round.
As Hardy tired, Fuller stepped up the pace and landed some explosive shots, throwing a straight right and double left-hook in quick succession.
This had the crowd on its feet and ensured Fuller progressed to a points victory.
Kirkham coach Steve Davis said: "The result was excellent for Kyle and the club. If he continues like we think he can, he has the capabilities to be a junior champion."
Kyle's next outing will be at the Lowther Pavilion in Lytham next month, when the rest of the Kirkham boxers will also be in action.

*BLACKPOOL and District Licensed Victualers are hosting a boxing tournament between British and Canadian amateurs at the Horseshoe Bar B/Pleasure Beach a week tomorrow.
Tickets are on sale at the Duke Of York on Dickson Road for 15 (20 with a meal). A raffle and comedian will follow the boxing (doors 7pm).
