Midfielder Antoni Sarcevic has cursed Fleetwood Town’s rotten run of luck, following Saturday’s injury to Bobby Grant.

The on-loan Blackpool man was stretchered off after just 38 minutes of the 0-0 draw with AFC Wimbledon.

And Sarcevic insists it’s just the latest in a string of misfortunes suffered by the club.

He said: “Things happened in the game, Bobby’s injury, but that’s what it’s like at the minute.

“There’s just been lots of little things that haven’t gone for us.

“I hope that’s the end of it and for the remaining games this season it will go our way a little more.”

Sarcevic was asked to play a deeper, more central role on Saturday, one he relished.

And he’s hoping the solid display on Saturday will help lift Fleetwood ahead of their trip to Newport tonight.

He said: “We’ve gone for all three points but on the back of Tuesday night’s result we’re happy with a point.

“I was happy to be back in a position I was more familiar with. I was enjoying myself.

“It was good to be in there and more involved.

“Now I just want to push on and make the most of a run in the team.”

And Sarcevic, a summer signing from Chester FC, believes Fleetwood are still well placed for success.

He’s even predicting there may be a wobble ahead for some of Fleetwood’s promotion rivals.

“We come in every week and there’s always shock result,” said the former Manchester City youth player.

“It’s going to happen in this league.

“Now we need everyone behind us. We’re still in a good position and we want them to push us on.”

And the key to that, Sarcevic believes, could come in just one moment.

He said: “It’s easy to say that we need that goal. We need that confidence now.

“We’ve got a great set of lads and we’ll push on.”
