THREE days of hard graft in Scotland has been enough to convince keeper Scott Davies that he faces a battle to for his place in Fleetwood Town’s side this season.
New signing Danzelle St Louis-Hamilton has impressed the Town No.1 during the club’s training camp at Stirling University.
Davies said: “Daznelle has a lot of ability. I know what it’s like coming to a club where there is already a keeper in place – it happened to me when I arrived from Morecambe and Danny Hurst was here.
“But hopefully it will be healthy competition and we’ll push each other all the way. Whoever plays will hopefully do the business for the team.”
Davies has been allocated the No.1 jersey for the coming season. It’s the first time in his career he has worn that number and he is determined to remain first choice.
His immediate priority is to get through a gruelling week of training sessions which start at 7am and don’t end until 9pm.
He added: “The players are all really tired, but we are getting our heads down and hope to reap the benefits come the first week of August. You need this type of trip but it’s a six-week pre-season, not one week, and it’s all about building stamina. The football side will take care of itself.”
n TOWN have cut hospitality prices for the four pre-season games at Highbury to tempt more supporters to sample their VIP packages.
Parkside Suite hospitality has been reduced to £30 for a three-course meal and match ticket on the executive balcony. A 12-seat executive box costs £360 and also includes the meal, matchday programmes and team sheets and multi-screen satellite TV.
These prices apply for this month’s friendlies against Preston North End (July 13), Manchester United reserves (20), Huddersfield Town (22) and Oldham Athletic (30).
A super-saver hospitality ticket covering two is these games is available for the Parkside Lounge and costs £50 per head.
