MANAGER Micky Mellon believes Jamie Vardy has played his last game for Fleetwood Town but insists the club’s star player won’t be put under any pressure to move on.

Transfer speculation has surrounded promoted Town’s 34-goal top scorer all year but Mellon says the striker won’t be pressed to make a quick decision on his future.

Chairman Andy Pilley told The Gazette last week that several clubs are in talks over the 25-year-old and Mellon said: “We are prepared for all eventualities with Jamie. The most important thing is that the player is happy and we are not shoving him out.

“He will take his time and listen to advice, but there’s no pressure on the boy.

“I’d be surprised if he plays for Fleetwood next season but it’s up to him.

“We won’t push him out of the door. He has done great for us and we want to do right thing by Jamie Vardy.”
