PRE-SEASON friendlies are all about building for the future, but AFC Fylde boss Kelham O’Hanlon won’t be able to resist a nostalgic look back in time during tonight’s game.
The 7.45pm match is against a Middlesbrough XI – the club where former keeper O’Hanlon’s career began.
The Fylde manager made 87 appearances for his hometown club in the 1980s, having come through the same youth set-up as current Boro boss Tony Mowbray.
O’Hanlon said: “It means a lot to play against the club where I started my career in 1978. Tony’s assistant Steve Agnew will bring a good side and it will be great occasion for me and my players.”
Most importantly, O’Hanlon hopes to see Rick Whiteside, Glen Steele, Joe Booth, Paul Jarvis and Dave Swarbrick back in action after injury. Admission is £7 (concs £3-5, under-12s free).
