SQUIRES Gate FC are staging a raffle with a very unusual prize.

The winner will be entitled to choose the name of the North West Counties League’s School Road ground for next season.

The winner need not name the ground after their business. They could opt for their own name, that of a loved one or indeed anything at all ... though the club reserve the right to reject any suggestions deemed unsuitable.

It’s the brainchild of club stalwart and current groundsman Brian Addison, who saw the same idea in operation at Conference club Bath City.

The winner will also receive free admission to all next season’s home games and to a sportsman’s dinner.

Entry to the draw costs £50 and cheques payable to Squires Gate FC can be sent to the club c/o 47 Lime Grove, Lytham St Annes FY8 2QG. Further details on 07989 074096.

Gate have spent most of the season at the wrong end of the premier division but have pulled clear of the bottom in recent weeks and end their campaign at home to Barnoldswick on Saturday.
