Frost hits Sunday League

MOTHER Nature and Jack Frost formed a tag team last weekend and put paid to most games in the Sunday Alliance, though 47 goals were scored in the games which survived the combination of rain and ice.

Poulton SFC visited Blackburn side Beehive in the Lancashire Cup and eased through to the next round with a 3-0 win courtesy of Gary Pett and Carl Eastwood(2).

Additions are a point clear at the top of the premier division and have a game in hand, after beating Bloomfield Vets 6-0 thanks to Stephen Chantler, Liam Forrest, Sion Kenyon, Sean Slater, Anthony Smith and Michael Weldon.

One game survived in division two and it saw Marton Institute host No4 Celtic and win 4-1, with goals from Jamie Farrington, Matt Gowen, Paul Parker and a debut strike by Lee Jones. Normoss Newton Arms FC moved to the top of division three after beating Kirkham Con Club 4-2, Karl Holmes and Graeme Hutchinson. Hampton Social beat Athletico Excelsior 2-0.

In the Premier/Division One Cup, Northern Care Colts came back from 2-0 down to beat 21st Century Windows 4-2, with goals by Luke Robinson, Matt Cassidy and Ben Waddington (2). H&A Social gave Wesham Town a run for their money in the Division Four Cup, but despite goals by Daniel Johnson and Samuel Whittaker (2) they lost out 5-3. Scorers for Town were David Pearse, Philip Jones, Leigh Gillies and Craig Gillies (2).

Walkabout beat JJ Property Services 5-2 , with pairs from Sammi Azzuz and Richard Eaves. Jonathan Lovell scored two.

Finally, DH Gas emerged victorious 4-3 on penalties after their well-contested tie with Dutton Arms ended 2-2.
