FLEETWOOD Town have signed former England youth international Curtis Obeng on loan from Swansea City - and he goes straight into the Town team that takes on Rochdale at Spotland in Saturday’s Lancashire derby.
He has yet to play for the Swans since joining them from Wrexham in January, but the 23-year-old is highly regarded and links up with the Highbury club for a two-month loan spell.
He comes to Fleetwood at a time when the club has a worrying list of injuries - Steve McNulty, Shaun Beeley, Andy Mangan and Anthony Barry are all casualties while Junior Brown is not available tomorrow at Spotland.
Brown is suspended after picking up five bookings already this season.
Obeng had a good pedigree and was in the Manchester City side that played in the FA Youth Cup final defeat to Liverpool alongside the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Micah Richards.
Obeng, who was also capped at England under-19 level, was released by City in 2009 and teamed up with Wrexham - he joined the Swans in January.
He can play right-back or on the right side of midfield and is blessed with loads of pace.
