AFC Fylde will have a VIP visitor for their FA Cup second qualifying round at home to Ashton United on Saturday - FA chairman Greg Dyke
The former director general of the BBC had 80 matches to choose from, but decided to plump for this competitive North West derby.
The Coasters are ready to give him the red carpet treatment.
A club spokesman said: “Mr Dyke’s passion for home grown English footballing talent has been highlighted in recent interviews in the press and it would seem that he is keen in his role as the chairman of the FA to nurture young players.”
AFC Fylde Manager Dave Challinor added: “It’s great for the club that Greg has chosen to attend our game on Saturday.
“The more high profile guests that visit Kellamergh Park the better as it gives a fantastic opportunity to show what a great, friendly, forward-thinking club we are.
“Hopefully both our plans of 2022 being a significant year will mean he’s a lucky omen on Saturday and we progress to the next round.”
