SUNDAY brought the last action of 2012 in the G Casino Blackpool and Fylde Sunday Alliance and the old year certainly went out with a bang, with 114 goals scored.

In the Lancashire Trophy, Blackhurst Budd travelled to Blackburn and caused an upset by knocking out holders Mill Hill. Rick Sear scored both goals in the 2-1 win.

A brilliant achievment for Blackhurst who are now into the final four.

And with Reform Health Club and Poulton SFC still to play their quarter-finals, Fylde coast interest in the county cup is very much alive.

In the Gledhill Cup, Frenchmans Cove lost a 4-3 thriller to Bathroom Solutions, who reached the semi-finals thanks to Liam Frend, Craig Robinson and Liam Duffy (2). Molloys hosted SportsWorld Media, who won 3-2 to reach the last four courtesy of Lee Barker and Craig Worrall (2), while Northern Rags beat Bispham Hotel 2-1 thanks to Paul Bailey and Chris Matthews.

In the Division Two/Three Cup, Devonshire Arms went 3-0 up against Marshall Court thanks to a five-minute hat-trick by Scott Grimes midway through the first half. Marshall pulled one back after the break through Chris Rose before Nick Tosh completed Arms’ 4-1 victory.

Victoria are safely through in the Division Four Cup after thumping Highlands 11-0 as brothers Arron, Kyle and Ryan Nixon each scored two. Score beat Fire and Ice 5-3 through Richard Horrocks, Matthew Parr (2) and Paul Smith (2), while Pump and Truncheon beat Layton FC 5-2. The bottom two, CTK and Chris Allen Garages, met in division one and the 2-2 draw didn’t really help either.

Twelve goals were shared in an amazing division two draw between Uncle Toms Cabin and Station Tavern. Goals by Lee Coker, Jason Nuttall, Tom Harrison (2) and Mark Watkinson (2) for Uncle Tom’s could not prevent four-goal Aran Cooper, Ross Albiston and Jamie Lowther saving a point.

Mereside edged out No4 Celtic 3-2 thanks to Scott Christy, Matty Grime and Lee O’Neil, while Marton Institute kept their first clean sheet, Matt Gowen and Paul Parker sealing a 2-0 victory over Exceptional Kitchens.

Division three leaders Normoss Newton Arms moved three points clear with a game in hand after easing past Metrostars 10-2, thanks to goals from Phil Brown (2), Adam Gill (2), James Roberts (2), Gary Dewhirst, Graeme Hutchinson, Jonathan Marriott and David Owen. Kirkham CC and Hampton Social played out a 2-2 draw.

Dutton Arms ended DH Gas’ unbeaten run in division four as goals by Simon Chapstick, Kevin Everton and Kevin Moran sealed a 3-1 win. Marton Athletic’s 4-2 win kept JJ Property Services rooted to the bottom, while Walkabout were made to work for a 3-2 win over H&A secured by Sammi Azzuz (2) and Richard Eaves.
