It was all about injury-time goals as AFC Fylde twice snatched a late lead to inch ever closer to an end of season play-off place.
Chris Wood gave the visitors a shock lead against the run of play seven minutes before the break but two late first-half goals, from Michael Barnes and James McCarthy, sent the Coasters in leading 2-1.
Fylde conceded another sloppy goal after 74 minutes when Jason Yates tapped home from close range but Adam Farrell popped up in the fifth minute of injury time to snatch a dramatic victory.
Manager Dave Challinor agreed it was too close for comfort in the end but said: “It’s nice to come out on the end of a last-minute game changer. We’ve been on the reverse of those on numerous occasions this year and it’s not nice.
“It will hopefully turn out to be a massive three points for us because in fairness we huffed and puffed, and there seemed an edginess about us again. We’re going to play some bigger games between now and the end of the season so we need to relax and we need to play more.
“If we get our creative players on the ball in the right areas we’ll create opportunities and score goals. But, we shouldn’t need to expect to score three goals every week to win a game of football. We need to be better defensively to give us a better chance to win a game.
“If we score three goals in a game we should be comfortable and not hanging on but I’m delighted that we came out on the right side of the result.”
Frickley took the lead when Fylde failed to clear a loose ball which Wood happily buried into the top corner.
Fylde responded brilliantly and were back level within three minutes when Barnes shot past the outstretched Green from 20-odd yards.
Then McCarthy gave the Coasters a deserved lead three minutes into stoppage time when he leapt highest at the back post.
Disaster struck 16 minutes from time as Frickley levelled the tie through Yates.
Into stoppage time, Fylde threw everything at the Frickley goal and with virtually the last kick, Farrell toed past the onrushing Green.
Fylde travel to Stocksbridge on Thursday night.
